Music Promotion

Taboo is a small campaign created around the re-publishing of the Brenda Fassie album 'I'm not a bad girl'.

Fassie was a well-known South African singer who had a tough life, but gained great fame during apartheid. She unfortunately past away too early in life from a drug overdose.

The campaign serves as a commemoration for Fassie and to shed light on the struggles she faced in her day - racism, sexism and sexual identity issues, all of which are still relevant for many today.

Working within a creative team alongside a copywriter and graphic designer, I took on the role of art director, videographer, video editor and shared the role of photographer with another creative. The outcome of this campaign was a promotional video, posters, an album cover and social media content.
